The heart of it
My goal: that you leave with peace of mind, because you know everything has been thought of and nothing will be forgotten.
Going on holiday with your beloved four-legged friend is something to enjoy above all. Adventuring together, however you fill that in: close to home or abroad, active or slow. At the same time, it asks for good preparation around the practical side.
With the Compass Holiday Check I take as many of those worries off your hands as possible. In an intake we discuss your plans and your questions. Feeding raw and wondering which alternative suits your trip? How to handle a food switch? The rules in different countries, or handy gear you haven’t thought of yet? All of that, and much more, is covered.
Who it’s for
Is this for you?
For dog owners who want to travel with calm, overview and certainty, and who like a personally composed reference guide that fits their planned trip.

Camping, a holiday home or a hotel.
Staying in the Netherlands, or travelling further afield.
A first trip together, or a new climate.
Travelling with your dog for the first time, or heading for a different climate, a new environment or a more intensive holiday.
Everything in one place.
Ideal if you would rather not research it all yourself.
Sensitive dogs and easy-going ones.
For dogs with sensitivities or medical points of attention, and just as much for dogs that rarely have problems and whose trip you simply want to be as comfortable as possible.
Made to measure
What’s included.
Six parts, together forming a complete reference guide for your trip.
Adjusting food for travel
Depending on what you feed now, you may need or want to switch temporarily. I look at what suits your dog as an individual and how to approach it in practice: storing and carrying food safely, topping up the bowl functionally abroad, supplements, and what to do with diarrhoea, less appetite from heat or stress, or more appetite from extra activity. Plus tips for snacks and support on long walks.
Health and emergencies
A holiday doesn’t always go to plan. You get clear, practical tips to prepare for diarrhoea, vomiting, overheating, stress, small wounds or insect bites; how to prepare for a vet visit; which first-aid supplies are worth bringing; and the health risks per country, such as parasites, tick-borne diseases, heartworm or leishmania, with bespoke prevention and monitoring advice. We also check whether a vet visit is needed before departure, as for the UK.
On the road
Travelling can be intense for dogs. Advice on transporting your dog and making the journey comfortable: rest stops, hydration, temperature, safety in the car or camper, recognising stress and car sickness. Plus how public transport works at your destination, which rules apply, whether a muzzle is required and how to prepare your dog for it.
Rules, legislation and country information
Every country has its own rules. You get an overview of import rules, vaccination requirements, mandatory parasite prevention, required documents and local rules such as leash laws, dogs on beaches, nature areas and public transport, tuned entirely to your destination.
Made to measure
The type of holiday, the season, your dog’s health and sensitivities, your activities and practical circumstances all shape the advice. A short-coated dog may need a lined coat in a colder country; booties can be handy in any season, depending on the terrain. Food, water, protection against heat or cold, first aid, grooming, a place to sleep and safety are all part of it.
Bespoke checklists
Clear, logically built checklists that make the preparation and the holiday itself as stress-free as possible: packing lists, pre-departure checklists, a shopping list for topping up the bowl on location, and walk and outing checklists so nothing gets left behind.

Good to know
Important notes.
How far in advance should I book?
It depends on the preparations needed. Travelling abroad and your dog hasn’t had a rabies vaccination yet? That must be given at least 3 weeks before departure. My personal advice is to book 1.5 to 2 months ahead. For short-notice trips I’m flexible and can plan an intake quickly; even last-minute, the check gives you valuable, directly usable tips.
How personal is the advice?
Some information is general by nature, such as the rules for entering a country, though I always set out what they mean for your trip. Everything else, from tick prevention and deworming to which food is practical for your dog and what goes on your checklists, is based on your individual situation.
What does contact during the holiday include?
With the Extended package you can ask questions or describe a situation during your trip when something unexpected happens, such as diarrhoea, stress, heat, tick bites or doubts about local rules. The conditions are set out in your advice.
Not sure which package suits you?
Plan a free, no-obligation introductory call and we’ll look at it together, or simply send me an email.
Let’s get to know each other
Curious what I can do for you both?
