My vision

Every dog and every cat is an individual, so what is “good” differs for each of them. That is why feeding is bespoke, and why I start with prevention: strengthening health long before problems arise.

“Where do I start? What is good?” Many owners can’t see the wood for the trees when it comes to food. I help you find the right path, together with your animal.

The Kompas method

Four directions, one balanced animal.

Nutrition, lifestyle, nature and wellbeing are always connected. Choose a direction to see how each one shapes your plan.

N Nutrition

The bowl, decoded.

An independent, fresh look at what is in the bowl today, and a clear plan for what should be. From kibble to raw or home-cooked, always built around the individual.

  • Analysis of the current food
  • Functional toppings
  • Targeted supplements, never by default
  • Bespoke raw menus & cooked recipes

E Lifestyle

Rhythm makes the routine.

A healthy pet is a happy pet. Movement, rest and feeding moments shape health every single day, so every plan includes routines that fit your household.

  • Daily rhythm & feeding moments
  • Movement that suits age & breed
  • Rest and recovery
  • Plans that fit family life

S Nature

Back to natural needs.

Every advice starts from what a dog or cat is by nature. Species-appropriate food, fresh ingredients and time outdoors form the quiet foundation of lasting vitality.

  • Species-appropriate feeding
  • Fresh, whole ingredients
  • Feed the rainbow
  • Time outside, every day

W Wellbeing

Balance, body and mind.

Physical and mental balance go hand in hand. From enrichment to grooming and calm, I look at the whole animal, not just at the food.

  • Enrichment & mental stimulation
  • Grooming & care
  • Stress and calm
  • Seniors, picky eaters, indoor cats

Meet Melissa

Hi, I’m Melissa. Animal lover for as long as I can remember.

I’m a proud South-Limburg “maedje”, living in Heerlen right next to the Brunssummerheide with my husband, our teenage son, Arya, our Old German Shepherd, and Sansa, our Maine Coon.

Working with animals means carrying responsibility for a life that depends on you. That’s why I handle everything I do for your animal with great care, respect and attention, and why I keep learning, every single day.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Important: I don’t diagnose. With health complaints, always visit your vet first.

How do I know whether my dog’s or cat’s current food suits them?

Look at energy, stool, coat quality, behaviour and satiety. Itching, inconsistent stools, eating lots of grass, hyperactivity or lethargy can all point to food playing a role. In doubt? Send me a message and I’ll gladly think along.

What does preventive nutrition guidance include?

It focuses on preventing problems and supporting your animal’s natural balance. I look at current food, lifestyle, routine and needs, so we can adjust in time, before complaints arise.

Do you diagnose or treat health complaints?

No. I don’t diagnose and I don’t treat complaints. With changes in health, behaviour or stool, a visit to the vet always comes first. Once there is medical clarity, I can help optimise nutrition preventively.

Which dogs and cats is this suitable for?

All of them, regardless of age, breed or current diet. Especially valuable for puppies and kittens, young adults, seniors, picky eaters, active dogs and indoor cats.

How does it work, and how quickly do I receive my advice?

Intake questionnaire, a video consult, then your written advice within 5 working days, followed by an agreed follow-up. Because we meet by video call, you can work with me from anywhere.

Let’s get to know each other

Let’s find your true north, together.

Curious what I can mean for you and your animal? Plan a free, no-obligation introductory call. We’ll calmly look at your situation, and you’ll know right away whether my way of working suits you.
